LC Volleyball Sweeps Merrillville on Senior Night, Celebrating Seven Seniors
The Lake Central High School volleyball team celebrated Senior Night in style on Wednesday night, sweeping their opponent in three sets by scores of 25-9, 25-13, and 25-20.
The Indians were led by their seven seniors, who were honored before the game. Isabella Born, Brooke Tingberg, Gabbreilla Rodriguez, Milica Tomic, Kaelan Murphy, Sophia Watts, and Alex Jelcic were all recognized for their contributions to the program over the years.
The seniors were all in top form on Wednesday night. Jelcic led the team with eight kills, while Murphy had six kills of her own. Alexa Iwema and Kailey Skurka each had five kills apiece.
Murphy also led the team with 14 points serving, including six aces. Tingberg had 10 points serving and two aces.
Tingberg also had a strong defensive game, leading the Indians with 11 digs. Tomic totaled 29 assists on the night. Watts had a great night defensively with outstanding play on serve receive.
The Indians were dominant throughout the match, jumping out to a quick lead in each set and never looking back.
